17th of December 1989, a day Romanians are not allowed to forget. Thousands of people marching in Timişoara, yelling “Down with Ceauşescu, down with communism!”.
23 years ago thousands were rioting on the streets of Timişoara against the measures adopted by the regime, a mob formed of factory workers and students headed towards the center of the town screaming “Don’t be afraid, Ceausescu will fall!” and “Down with communism!”
After 6PM the first victims were made when the authorities opened fire.
Thanks to what those people started Romania is (almost) free today. Maybe one day we’ll make them proud by standing as proudly as we should.
